This Cab hails from Ron Siegemund’s “Acure Estate” Vineyard, located in the hills at the western end of Alexander Valley, an area that enjoys long, sunny days and cool nights, The soil is composed of a sandy, gravelly loam, and the vines tend to be very small. The vineyard and winery are powered by large pivoting solar photovoltaic panels. (Certified Sustainable by the California Sustainable Winegrowing Alliance (CSWA).) Due to drought conditions this year, the wine underwent some stress and built character during the growing season - leading to small, blueberry sized berries in loose clusters.  The grapes were hand sorted and crushed within hours of harvest, fermented with French red wine yeast.
In the last 10 years of our 16-year history, our partnership with a tree nursery in Tanzania allows us to plant five trees for every bottle of De Novo wine purchased. This is our way to help fight global warming, offset the carbon footprint of our operation and hopefully inspire you to do the same.

Tasting Notes:
With a deep purple color and gem like clarity, this wine is a sturdy, classic Cabernet Sauvignon.  The nose offers up hints of lavender, blackerry, vanilla, white pepper and leather.  The finish is consistent from front, to mid to back palate, with multiple layers of dark forest berries and finishes off with lingering plum.  This is a balanced wine with strong backbone, great balance, and was developed with passion and precision, to represent the qualities of Zen.
